Ryan Candelori- Black Bear 2031 Assistant Coach and Current Assistant Coach at Souderton High School. Former Goaltender at Perkiomen Valley High School and Notre Dame’s Club Team.
Black Bear’s Winter Training Academy is tailored towards advanced and immediately skilled players looking for an edge on their competition.

QUALITY over Quantity: For each 90 minutes of training we are capping enrollment currently at 4 Goalies, 12 Defenseman, 6 LSMs, 10 Midfielders, and 10 Attackmen PER SESSION (40 athletes total)

Performance-Based Curriculum
Foundation Skill Development
Passing, Catching, Ground balls: We start every session with our traffic-passing drill for a high rep, no standing, fast-paced Foundational skill work. RH-LH-Splits-Gbs 100 reps in less than 10 minutes
Athletic Skill Development
Agility, Change-Of-Direction, Quickness: Next every athlete will spend 15 minutes going through evidence-based and proven athletic performance drills that are designed around making you a better athlete and lacrosse player. Be prepared to SWEAT MORE for greatness!
Position Skill Development
We break this up into three groups Offense-Defense-Goalies see below what we will be focusing on each week below.
WEEK 1:
Offense: C.O.D. (quick in and out of the dodge mechanics), Stationary Shooting mechanics+ Footwork. Shooting Area Focus: Feeds from Low to High Wing
Defense: C.O.D. (Hip mobility + explosiveness), defensive footwork, defensive approaches, on ball positioning
Goalies: Stance, Hand-Eye Quickness, Tracking the Ball, Footwork, Clearing. Goalies will be given LIVE SHOTS on a weekly basis in combination with our Offensive Academy Shooters.
WEEK 2:
Offense: C.O.D. (quick in and out of the dodge mechanics), Stationary Shooting Mechanics + Footwork. Shooting Area Focus: Ball swung from X to Wing areas (L/R)
Defense: C.O.D. (Hip mobility + explosiveness), defensive footwork, defensive approaches, on ball positioning
Goalies: Stance, Hand-Eye Quickness, Tracking the Ball, Footwork, Clearing. Goalies will be given LIVE SHOTS on a weekly basis in combination with our Offensive Academy Shooters.
WEEK 3:
Offense: C.O.D. (quick in and out of the dodge mechanics), Shooting on the Run Mechanics + Footwork. Shooting Area Focus: Alley Dodges from Redirects + Sweep Alley Dodges
Defense: C .O.D. (Hip mobility + explosiveness), defensive footwork, defensive approaches, on ball positioning + Off ball positioning & Sliding
Goalies: Stance, Hand-Eye Quickness, Tracking the Ball, Footwork, Clearing. Goalies will be given LIVE SHOTS on a weekly basis in combination with our Offensive Academy Shooters.
WEEK 4:
Offense: C.O.D. (quick in and out of the dodge mechanics), Shooting on the RunMechanics + Footwork. Shooting Area Focus: Inside Finishes + Up-The-Hash Shooting
Defense: C .O.D. (Hip mobility + explosiveness), defensive footwork, defensive approaches, on ball positioning + Off ball positioning & Sliding
Goalies: Stance, Hand-Eye Quickness, Tracking the Ball, Footwork, Clearing. Goalies will be given LIVE SHOTS on a weekly basis in combination with our Offensive Academy Shooters.
Mental (LAX IQ) Development
Each week we will be focusing on different team concepts on both sides of the ball that will help our players better understand the purpose of the “WHY” behind each area of focus. Each week students will be given a homework assignment by their coaches to study a short YouTube Video from one of our favorite people Patrick Chapla of “POWLAX. Check his channel for great “how to” videos on understanding the game of lacrosse.
